The Jets have spent significantly less on players than every club except the Central Coast. Anything better than 2nd last will be a solid effort.
The team was beaten away 3-2 by a team that is a genuine top 3 chance this season.
I find this level of criticism too harsh to take seriously - and hope it doesn't make it's way to the stadium.
If I felt as negative about the Jets as you do I would simply walk away or find another team to support.
Sure we have players that failed in one-on-one situations last night - but Castro is going to make anyone in this league look foolish.
Give Jones a player like Castro and see what happens.

You must be one of the guys who expected Lee to spend a billion as soon as he walked through the door. How do you get rid of "half the squad"?

It was always said that this was a year of regrouping with a new owner, sorting out the books first - the Miller sacking was unexpected, but Jones will not get the sack even if we lose all of our games.

He will get a full preseason and the chance to put together a squad with some extra spending money.

We are playing good football, scoring goals as well as securing important young players. Our issue is our defence across the park. We are in a much better space than 12 months ago.

Disagree entirely for the main reason that Jones was a rushed decision a month out of the start of the comp. this wasn't a careful decision. We rejected more capable overseas candidates due to the time restraint at the time. And maybe that was the right call, maybe not. But that doesn't make it the right call for the coming years.

If he is able to achieve a finals berth, which is only a minor improvement on last year with a much better squad, then that's the minimum. We scored 30 points last year with 8 wins and I am struggling to see how we will surpass that at this rate. And disagree that Jones is at all responsible for a better infield product. His predecessor signed 2 of the better wingers in the league and we are counter attacking with them and scoring plenty of goals. Great. But we seem to be inept at the back with no plan how to fix it.

But regardless of my opinion, the league table at the end of the season is the best indicator as to wether Jones is improving the team. If a better squad with the leagues leading player is going backwards then the offseason should be used to recruit the right coach.

Sorry but that's complete bollocks. Show me any quotes where that was said by Lee, Mckinna or Jones?

Well players like Mullen have proven time and time again there not good enough yet Jones still picks them

I distinctly remember our Gypo CEO commenting he did not want a coach who was going to come in and use the " not my squad : cop out.

Ring any bells Jetmaster? Rebuilding my ass.

Newcastle CEO Lawrie McKinna echoed Boogaard’s confidence stating the side was capable of higher honours in the near future.

“We want to be qualifying for the Asian Cup after three seasons,” he said to FourFourTwo. “That’s what the Chairman and that’s what the owners want. I know that the coaches know that. If we scrape in the finals this year we want to be in the finals the year after and we want to be challenging for an Asian Champions League spot at the end of the third year.”

“The club is screaming out for a team that represents the area, they want team that engages with the local community they want a team that’s going to be competitive.”

Its reasonable imo to expect an improved performance this season with a better squad. Its undeniable that the addition of Nabbout, Hoole and Brown improved the squad along with a full season for Ugarkovic. If we finished 7th but ended up just outside the 6 with 34+ points then maybe that would be unlucky an absolute bare minimum pass mark. Can't keep accepting mediocrity without accountability under the guise of a yearly re-building process, which is exactly what Mckinna said at the start of the season. In his own words, "coaches come and go".

    Yup

"Basically someone who can go to work straight away because we don't want any excuses that it's not my squad. The person who comes in here thinks he can get the team into the top six. No excuses saying it's not my team."

You really need to buy yourself an A-League franchise and show everyone how easy it is.
Keep an eye on Ebay for Adelaide to be listed.

Winning is so over rated. Losing is the only true currency in this morally bankrupt world we live in.
