I always consider the opinions of the opposition fans when a player leaves to join our club.

So far, they're quite complimentary towards him and sad to see him go.

At the end of the day, we've signed a fullback who is left footed, is strong going forward (recognised this trait for a while) while admittedly a bit shaky defensively from the 1 (yes, only one) match I focussed on him last weekend.

He's won a championship and and FFA Cup and I'd argue is one of the strongest left backs in the competition.

It's the sort of signing we don't usually make, as Frodo said, so I am pleasantly surprised.

    hear me out:

he (so far) 'seems' to have failed in most measurable areas.

so instead of trying to get better at things like 'scoring' and 'defending' of which we have metrics to judge his performance against other teams, he is going off the reservation so to speak and just being the grittiest and mongrelest team in the comp.

and until the stat NERDY NERDZ come up with a way to measure it, and compare it to other teams, he can just claim victory.

    what a smart dude.

    JONES IN.
    I resemble that remark.

As you can see, we had more grit and mongrel under Stubbins, but we have picked up our game slightly this year - there's still time. It's more of a trend analysis of the average but you get the point.

Yeh probably am. But time to start laying down some cash and expectations. We have a billionaire owner. Start acting like it.

Statterpool, can you plot a few extra things on separate graphs to see if there's any correlation? Don't worry about showing actual correlation coefficients, just visual representation.

    Possession vs Fouls
    Fouls vs Cards
    Goals conceded vs Cards

Kind of expecting PvF to have negative correlation and almost expecting FvC to be static, possibly even so for opposition.

Don't have possession stats but yes, the others could be done.

There's a few people around social media who seem happy but I can't understand why. The vast majority are of the "he's a ****load better than Broxham" view and they definitely look a better side when he is in it.

I remember when he first signed... as a long time FM player, he was always one of those "poach back from OS" guys and he hadn't been capped by Macedonia, so you could sometimes pinch him for Australia as well. Not a lot of people knew who he was but would have loved to get him here 3 years ago. Lots of people originally thought he was signed as right back and I guess the club was hedging their bets. They had Galloway, Geria and Murnane as unproven fullbacks and the huge loss of Traore. If Murnane had emerged as the best of their youth FB's and Geria/Galloway were shite, Georgievski would have played on the right. He is definitely a right footer though, just better than decent on his left.

I'm pleased with it but if that means Vujica is deemed surplus and not worth developing, I will be disappointed. If it's an upgrade on the right side then that's 3 people we have there... who out of Hoff and Cowburn are off contract?

Good thing we got Wayne Brown under contract for another 2 years.

What a great decision that was

Once he has a better standard of player around him it will make for a better insight as to how effective brown can be.

Bonevacia is only 25, has good defensive abilities and he can also score goals as well. Absolutely no place for him in the Jets squad - we did well not to sign him.
