actually i think this is a masterstroke from Jones.
hear me out:
he (so far) 'seems' to have failed in most measurable areas.
so instead of trying to get better at things like 'scoring' and 'defending' of which we have metrics to judge his performance against other teams, he is going off the reservation so to speak and just being the grittiest and mongrelest team in the comp.
and until the stat NERDY NERDZ come up with a way to measure it, and compare it to other teams, he can just claim victory.

We've always been the dirtiest team in the league.
The stats are called "fouls conceded" and" yellow/red cards gained". We're always up there.
I wouldn't define us as dirty.
We give away a lot of soft fouls ourselves and we also seem to find refs who like to ping us for shit other teams get away with

Who said he left Victory? Maybe he was just not re-signed?
Victory have a lot of young players coming through all the time and with their squad maybe saw the opportunity to spend the money better (i.e less on a young defender to help keep someone or strengthen another area). We could be paying him exactly the same amount as victory were, would that be considered way over? Who knows, i don't know what Victory or we are paying him!

I am just impressed the club said 'we want him' and then we managed to sign him.
Normally this dance takes a horrible turn early on and we ended up signing the last bloke left with an eye patch and his shirt on backwards singing the spiderman theme tune at everyone who looks at him.
