Phil Stubbins on his post-session chat with Ecuadorian attacker Edson Montaño in the Hunter Stadium grandstand: “I took him up in the grandstand and said to him that ‘everyone that comes tomorrow I want them to leave with Edson Montaño on their lips’. He needs to come to the game tomorrow prepared to do everything he can to win a game for the club. He’s a big guy and he’s certainly got potential, and he’s put himself in positions to win games for the club but as yet we’ve not really witnessed that. I think he’s got his heart in the right place for the club. But in answer to the question of why I took him up there, I wanted him to feel it from a spectators’ point of view that when you’re out there there will be people looking at you, and I want them to speaking about Edson Montaño’s performance tomorrow.”

how bout you not play him so friggin isolated, at home you numpty

So Edson should be at home on his lounge?

We talk about Edson every single week. Edson needs to take Phil onto the field to see how fxxxing alone his squad setup leaves him

How can Phil have any respect from anyone any more?
    OK

The cynic in me reckons Phil did it as a media stunt, "oh look at his unique ways to motivate" and chose montano to do it with as his English is poor enough that big Phil knows he won't get called out on it.

The realist in me thinks the same thing.

Or how much of a coward he is. Says a lot when our derby oppositon's coach is happy to be on the bench before the teams walk out, yet Stubbins slinks out when everyone's attention is on the players.

Once you read or hear what Stubbins has to say it's no surprise the team has only one win this season. He is without doubt the most negative individual to ever coach an A-League team. And as you would expect that negativity has trickled it's way down to the players, coaching staff, and ultimately now the fans.

We keep talking about tactics and selections but why bother when Stubbins is continually focusing on losing or drawing rather than winning. The players to their credit are still showing up trying to give their best. How I don't know because I would have walked out ten weeks ago if I was subjected to a boss like Stubbins.

At best Stubbins is in damage control but the reality is he's slowly but surely killing the club.

Heard that Jaliens say that he is a player who has always played with passion, this coach kills that passion and doesn't inspire you to want to play for him....makes sense!

So, let's think about this for a bit...

Chapman, Jaliens all gone on Stubbins say. Chapman consistently one of the best for City since he came into the side, Jaliens best on ground on debut and solid as a rock playing both right back and centre back when they beat Adelaide. That was our starting pair last season...

Goodwin punted under the Stubbins regime. Regular for Adelaide, playing some pretty fantastic football and involved in a lot of attacking build up on the left.

Dead set, if Griff scores a hat trick today, I am done.

And if the whisper of Madaschi to Victory to replace Leijer are even remotely true, that's all of our shit players that Stubbins punted off to finals football.

Remember those fans that had the arrows made out of cardboard all pointing to the goals because their team hadn't scored in a squillion games?

Someone should make 100 arrows and hand them out to the 2-3 bays surrounding Stubbins, just holding them pointing to him for 90minutes.
    OK

That would be glorious.... but your average fan wouldn't have a clue and then probably wouldn't be keen on it if they knew why. Blissful ignorance and all that.

Should get one done for the SFC game... to be unfurled after their 3rd or 4th goal goes in with a note to Stubbins on it.
