For the younger people here that don't know Chelsea FC used to be absolutely useless as a football team until they got an owner with deep pockets and replaced all their shit players with foreign talent.
I'd like to see the rules changed so the Jets could do the same thing - All foreign players, owner with deep pockets, and absolutely no local / domestic players in the squad unless they are good enough.
Get rid of the Salary Cap as well and remove the ridiculous concessions with respect to Marquee players of all different flavours, forcing clubs to meet a quota of youth players / under 21's.
As far as Youth Leagues go - Get rid of them as well. Local associations can develop junior talent and they can on sell them to any Senior team wanting their services - globally or domestically.
None of this growing the local game or doing it for the future of the Socceroos shit - Just give us a team capable of winning the A-League and Asian Champions League - or don't bother us at all.
It should never be up to the A-league clubs to feed the national team - It's a completely different business model and should be treated as such.
EDIT: And this playing in summer shit needs to be reviewed as well.

No problem with summer football as long as ALL games are after sunset.
1.Keep the salary cap.
2. Scrap any 'marquee' criteria.
3. Let clubs sign whoever they want.
4. Introduce a luxury tax.
5. History says the rest will work itself out.
1. Scrap the salary floor. At least let the have nots save lots of money instead of running at huge loss every year. Still finish in bottom 4 due to shit squad and no marquees, no change except no bankruptcy.
2. Jets shaped hats
3. Full strength beer
4. Griff
But the FFA subsidize the salary cap. So there's no disadvantage to a club whether they're forced to "spend" over a certain percentage or not. If a club uses 60% of the salary cap or 90%, they're out of pocket the same amount (i think). It is the FFA who are out of pocked.
OK
Yeah, but what I am suggesting is give clubs their entire salary cap entitlement and then don't force them to spend. Give Jets $2.5m, be as shit and uncompetitive as we are now spending all of it and let club cover the annual losses by only spending $1.5m of that entitlement.
Floor and limited foreign players just forces clubs to pay high wages on shit players. Some of the players in this league are stealing a living.
Does this also match up with us giving up on being competitive again like Grim and I are saying? Cause, if so, then totally a good idea.
If you legitimately think these guys would make a half-decent coaching team than i feel bad for you son. They would have 99 problems but winning trophies wouldn't be one.![]()
Yeah very frustrating article.
Gotta say, the Herald does a great job with its Jets coverage but they really don't stick the boot in when it's due. Or critique matches, tactics. coaches etc. at all really, they just accept the mediocrity.
Lowey writes the same article at the business end of every season. He's supposed to be the expert analyst right? Have a crack.
tbh i think thommo legit had no idea, he's a good bloke even though he got panned for that
but one former fan fave reportedly gave out vital information to a gypo coach once before a derby if you believe everything as well lelel![]()
