So I finally got around to seeing Alien Covenant..
It actually wasn't too bad.. A few cheesy bits, but overall I enjoyed it.. I think mainly because I had read so many poor reviews about it that I expected it to be an absolute steaming loaf of sh!t..
The Mrs on the other hand.. She was... Umm.. Fairly far from being able to say that she enjoyed it. In fact, it scared and disturbed her so much that when we got home I was forced to watch the second Bridget Jones movie so she could calm her nerves..

Biggest shock of the year is that Wonder Woman is actually an enjoyable movie. Plot is a b-grade version of the first Captain America, and the dialogue is cheesy - but it's funny and looks great.
By far the best of the new DC films.
If only they used a lead as hot as the original.

Watched the new Mummy movie.
It was worth a watch. Probably wouldnt rewatch though.
Tom Cruise wasn't as unexciting as I thought he was going to be.

Agreed. They are so generic / formulated it's like they simply change the costumes and re title the movie every few years.

There's a LOT of people out there hyping that Black Panther trailer.
To me it looks like yet another run of the mill Marvel/DC flick.
But oh boy you best not mention that out loud.
The dark knight as a standalone movie is an all timer. But Batman begins & the dark knight rises actually contribute to the trilogy, so I'm a bigger fan of them in the general scheme of things.

Don't know why anyone expected otherwise. Movies/Stories should only be remade or reworked if the previous ones were terrible.
