The Jetstream TV – Season 15 Review – Geezers and Robbolutions

Furns (@SquadronNewy) Andy (@ajlane1) Matt (@ego2k) & Luke (@MrGlass23) review @NewcastleJetsFC @ALeague 2019/20 season

The team get together on Zoom for a 2 hour dissection on the Newcastle Jets 2019/20 season in one of the weirdest season of the A-League. They talk over their thoughts on the squad we began the season with, the players and the coach’s performances during the first half of the campaign under Ernie Merrick, the sacking, the transitional period under caretaker Craig Deans before Carl Robinson joined the club and led a positive turnaround in style, mentality and results despite enormous odds during a global pandemic. Some player stats were discussed before the team gave their votes on the Players of the Season awards (two of which will require listener votes to decide a winner!), before the guys gave their thoughts on the long off season ahead and what needs to happen for the footballing public to get enthused about football in Australia again.

Furns (@SquadronNewy) from The Jetstream (@JetstreamNewy) catches up in a wide ranging chat with former @NewcastleJetsFC legendary midfielder Nick Carle

We start off with Nicky by talking over the COVID pandemic and how its affecting youth training and the lower leagues in Australia, and his thoughts on youth development and the @ALeague in general before discussing the early years, getting his start in the NSL at Sydney Olympic, a season in France before returning to Australia with Marconi in the final year of the NSL, then signing for the Jets for the first two seasons of the @ALeague

While at the Jets we discuss his relationship with Con Constantine, the first and second seasons Jets players and performances, his love of Newcastle and his memories of the three coaches he played under. We then talk over his departure from the Jets after being awarded the Johnny Warren Medal and narrowly missing out on the Grand Final in 2007, and how the move to Turkey eventuated. Nicky then talks over his time in Europe playing for Gencerbirligi, Bristol City and Crystal Palace, as well as his relationship with Neil Warnock. We talk over returning to Australia for Sydney FC and whether the Jets were an option before talking about his ACL injury that eventually causes him to call time on his career. We then finish off our chat with Nick by asking some fans questions and then seeing who sticks out in his memory as he answers to the Jetstream Ten questions.
